Ingredients
- 4 slices of bread (white, sourdough, or Italian)
- 2 tbsp butter, softened
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup marinara or pizza sauce
- 8–10 pepperoni slices (optional)
- 2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
- 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning or dried oregano
Instructions
- Spread butter on one side of each bread slice.
- Place two slices butter-side down in a skillet over medium heat.
- Top each with mozzarella cheese, a spoonful of marinara sauce, pepperoni slices (if using), Parmesan, and Italian seasoning.
- Cover with remaining bread slices, butter-side up.
- Cook until golden and crispy on one side, about 3–4 minutes, then flip and cook the other side until cheese is melted and bread is browned.
- Serve warm with extra marinara sauce for dipping, if desired.
Notes
- Swap mozzarella with provolone or cheddar for variety.
- Add mushrooms, bell peppers, or spinach for extra veggies.
- Use red pepper flakes or spicy pepperoni for heat.
- Olive oil or mayonnaise can replace butter for toasting.
