Ingredients

1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
½ tablespoon olive oil
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
1 garlic clove, finely minced or grated
1 tablespoon fresh cilantro or parsley, minced
1½ teaspoons Cajun seasoning
¼ teaspoon salt, plus more as needed

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Shrimp

Place the shrimp in a colander and toss with ¼ teaspoon salt.

Let sit for 1 minute, then rinse under cold water and pat completely dry with paper towels.

Step 2: Make the Cajun Butter

In a small bowl, combine:

Softened butter
Garlic
Cilantro or parsley
Cajun seasoning

Mix until well combined and set aside.

Step 3: Cook the Shrimp

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

Add the shrimp in a single layer. Cook for about 1 minute, until they begin turning pink.

Step 4: Finish with Cajun Butter

Reduce the heat to medium-low.

Add the Cajun butter mixture to the skillet and stir to coat the shrimp evenly.

Continue cooking and stirring for 1 to 2 minutes, until the shrimp are firm, opaque, and fully cooked.

Step 5: Serve

Remove from heat and serve immediately.

Enjoy over rice, pasta, grits, salads, tacos, or with crusty bread to soak up the flavorful Cajun butter sauce.

Notes

Patting the shrimp completely dry helps them cook quickly and develop better flavor.
Homemade Cajun seasoning offers the best flavor and allows you to control the salt level.
Store-bought Cajun blends vary in sodium content, so adjust seasoning accordingly.
Do not overcook the shrimp, as they can become tough and rubbery.
Fresh parsley and cilantro both work well in this recipe.
Cajun butter can be prepared up to 5 days ahead and refrigerated or frozen for future use.
