Ingredients

Base:

  • ¾ cup butter, melted
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 cups graham crackers, crushed
  • 1¼ cups creamy peanut butter

Chocolate Topping:

  • 2½ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 3 tablespoons creamy peanut butter

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Baking Dish: Line a 9×9-inch baking dish with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make it easier to remove the bars once set.
  2. Mix Base Ingredients: Using a stand mixer or handheld mixer, combine the melted butter, powdered sugar, and crushed graham crackers until well blended.
  3. Add Peanut Butter to Base: Mix in 1¼ cups of creamy peanut butter into the butter and graham cracker mixture until all the ingredients are thoroughly incorporated.
  4. Press Base into Pan: Evenly spread and press the peanut butter mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking dish to form the base layer.
  5. Prepare Chocolate Topping: In a heat-safe bowl, combine the semi-sweet chocolate chips and the remaining 3 tablespoons of creamy peanut butter. Heat in 30-second intervals, stirring thoroughly after each interval until the mixture is smooth and fully melted.
  6. Spread Chocolate Layer: Pour and evenly spread the smooth chocolate and peanut butter mixture over the peanut butter base layer in the baking dish.
  7. Cut Bars: Before chilling, cut the bars into 16 pieces to make serving easier after refrigeration.
  8. Chill Bars: Place the bars in the refrigerator and chill for 1 hour to set properly.
  9. Serve: Remove bars from the refrigerator and let them sit for 10 to 15 minutes at room temperature before serving for best texture and flavor.

Notes

  • Cutting the bars before chilling helps prevent cracking or breaking after setting.
  • Use parchment paper for easier removal and cleaner slices.
  • You can substitute crunchy peanut butter for extra texture if desired.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
  • For a firmer texture, chill bars longer or briefly freeze before serving.
