Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (spooned and leveled)
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Sugar & Butter Mixture

  • ½ cup salted sweet cream butter (softened)
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ⅓ cup light brown sugar (packed)
  • 2 tablespoons half and half
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Chocolate & Milk

  • 1½ cups good quality white baking chips (e.g. Ghirardelli)
  • 14 ounce can sweetened condensed milk

Mix-Ins

  • 1½ cups plain M&M’s (divided into 1 cup and ½ cup)
  • 1 cup plain mini M&M’s (divided into ½ cup and ½ cup)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Pan: Line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper and lightly spray it with nonstick spray. Set aside for later use.
  2. Heat and Cool Flour: Place all-purpose flour in a small microwave-safe bowl. Microwave for 1 minute to kill bacteria, then allow it to cool completely. Once cooled, sift the flour to remove any lumps.
  3. Freeze M&M’s: Divide the plain M&M’s and mini M&M’s into Ziploc bags (1 cup plain and ½ cup mini in separate bags) and place both bags in the freezer while preparing the rest of the recipe. This keeps them firm when mixed later.
  4. Cream Butter and Sugars: In a medium mixing bowl, use a handheld mixer to cream softened butter, granulated sugar, light brown sugar, half and half, vanilla extract, and salt together for 1½ to 2 minutes until light and fluffy.
  5. Add Flour: Reduce mixer speed to low, then add the sifted flour. Mix gently just until all ingredients are incorporated to avoid overworking the dough. Set mixture aside.
  6. Melt White Chocolate Mixture: In a heat-safe medium bowl, microwave white baking chips and sweetened condensed milk in 30-second intervals, stirring well after each until fully melted and smooth.
  7. Combine Frozen M&M’s: Remove the frozen M&M bags. Using a wooden spoon, stir the frozen M&M’s (1 cup plain and ½ cup mini) into the butter and flour mixture.
  8. Mix in White Chocolate: Spoon the melted white chocolate mixture into the cookie dough batter and gently stir until all ingredients are combined evenly.
  9. Fill Baking Dish: Transfer the cookie dough fudge into the prepared 8×8-inch baking dish, smoothing the top evenly.
  10. Add Topping: Evenly sprinkle the remaining ½ cup plain M&M’s and ½ cup mini M&M’s on top of the fudge. Gently press them into the surface to adhere.
  11. Chill: Cover the dish tightly and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or up to overnight to allow the fudge to set.
  12. Slice and Serve: Remove fudge from refrigerator and slice into 25 equal squares (5 rows by 5 columns). Serve chilled.

Notes

  • Microwaving the flour kills any potential bacteria since this recipe uses raw flour and no baking.
  • Freezing the M&M’s before mixing helps them maintain texture and prevents color bleeding into the fudge.
  • Use high-quality white baking chips for best melting results and a smooth fudge texture.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
  • This recipe yields 25 small squares, perfect for parties or gifting.
