Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour All-purpose flour
¾ cup granulated sugar Sugar
¼ tsp salt
½ cup unsalted butter, softened Butter
2 large eggs Eggs
2 tbsp lemon zest Lemon zest
2 tbsp lemon juice Lemon juice
½ tsp vanilla extract Vanilla extract
Lemon Glaze
½ cup powdered sugar Powdered sugar
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tsp lemon zest

Instructions

1. Preheat oven
Set oven to 350°F (175°C).
Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
2. Cream butter and sugar
In a bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
3. Add wet ingredients
Mix in eggs one at a time.
Add lemon juice, lemon zest, and vanilla extract.
4. Add dry ingredients
Stir in flour and salt until just combined.
Do not overmix.
5. Bake
Pour batter into prepared pan.
Bake for 22–25 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.
6. Cool
Let brownies cool completely in the pan.
7. Make glaze
Mix powdered sugar, lemon juice, and zest until smooth.
8. Finish
Spread glaze over cooled brownies.
Chill for 15 minutes before slicing.

Notes

Don’t overbake—this keeps them soft and fudgy.
Fresh lemon zest gives the strongest flavor.
Fully cooling before glazing prevents melting.
For extra tartness, add more lemon juice to the glaze.
