Crispy air-fried tofu coated in a sticky honey garlic soy sauce for an easy, flavorful, and satisfying plant-based dinner.
220 g firm tofu
3 tbsp corn starch
1/2 tsp garlic powder
2 tbsp sesame oil
4 cloves garlic, minced
3 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp honey
1/2 tsp cumin powder
Pinch of salt
Cooking oil spray (for air fryer)
Press tofu to remove excess moisture, then pat dry with paper towels.
Cut tofu into evenly sized cubes.
In a container, toss tofu with corn starch, garlic powder, cumin powder, and salt until evenly coated.
Place tofu in an air fryer basket, lightly spray with oil, and cook at 200°C (392°F) for 15 minutes, shaking halfway through until crispy.
While tofu cooks, heat sesame oil in a pan over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1–2 minutes until fragrant (do not burn).
Add soy sauce and honey, stirring until the sauce begins to bubble and slightly thicken.
Add crispy tofu to the pan and toss until fully coated in the sticky honey garlic sauce.
Serve immediately while hot and glossy.
Pressing tofu is key for a crispy texture.
Cornstarch helps create a crunchy exterior when air-fried.
Don’t overcook garlic or it will turn bitter.
Add chili flakes or sriracha for a spicy version.
Serve with rice, noodles, or steamed vegetables for a full meal.
