Instructions

  1. Prepare Ingredients: Chop the cabbage, onion, red and green bell peppers, and mince the garlic cloves. Slice the smoked sausage into 1-inch rounds. Season the shrimp with 1 teaspoon of Cajun seasoning and set aside.
  2. Combine in Slow Cooker: Place the chopped cabbage, onion, bell peppers, garlic, sliced smoked sausage, chicken broth, 1 tablespoon of Cajun seasoning, salt, dried thyme, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder into the slow cooker. Toss gently to mix all ingredients evenly.
  3. Cook in Slow Cooker: Cook the mixture on HIGH for 2 to 3 hours or on LOW for 4 to 6 hours until the cabbage and vegetables are tender and flavors meld together.
  4. Add Shrimp to Slow Cooker: After the initial cook, add the seasoned shrimp to the slow cooker. Stir gently and cook for an additional 10 to 15 minutes, or until the shrimp are fully cooked and pink.
  5. Instant Pot Alternative – Combine Ingredients: Place all ingredients except the shrimp in the Instant Pot and toss gently to combine.

  7. Add Shrimp in Instant Pot: Stir in the seasoned shrimp and cover the pot. Let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes until the shrimp turn pink and are fully cooked.
