Ingredients

Pudding Mixture

  • 2 (3.4 ounce) boxes instant banana cream pudding mix
  • 3 cups cold milk
  • 1 (8 ounce) container whipped topping, thawed

Assembly and Garnish

  • 1 (14.4 ounce) box graham crackers
  • 1 (8 ounce) container whipped topping, thawed
  • Fresh banana slices for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare Pudding: In a large bowl, whisk together the banana cream pudding mix and cold milk until well combined. Continue mixing vigorously for about 1 minute until the mixture starts to thicken.
  2. Fold in Whipped Topping: Gently fold one container (8 ounces) of whipped topping into the pudding mixture, creating a smooth, creamy filling. Set aside.
  3. Layer Graham Crackers: Arrange one-quarter of the graham crackers at the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish. Break crackers as needed to fit snugly together.
  4. Assemble Cake Layers: Spread one-third of the pudding mixture evenly over the graham crackers. Repeat layering two more times with graham crackers and pudding mixture. Finish with the remaining graham crackers on top. It’s normal to have some small pieces leftover for garnish.
  5. Top and Chill: Spread the remaining container of whipped topping over the final layer of graham crackers, smoothing it to cover completely. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 6 hours, preferably overnight, allowing the cake to set and flavors to meld.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Before serving, sprinkle crushed leftover graham crackers and decorate with fresh banana slices on top for a beautiful presentation and added texture.

Notes

  • For best results, chill the cake overnight to allow the graham crackers to soften and absorb the pudding flavors.
  • Use fresh bananas just before serving to prevent browning.
  • You can substitute regular whipped topping with a dairy-free version for a lactose-free dessert.
  • Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator and consume within 3 days.
  • If graham crackers soften too much for your preference, reduce refrigeration time slightly.
