Ingredients

Crust

  • ½ cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 ½ cups graham cracker crumbs

Toppings

  • 1 cup coconut flakes (or shredded coconut)
  • 1 ½ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup butterscotch chips
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 14 ounce sweetened condensed milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat and prepare pan: Preheat your oven to 350℉. Line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper or coat it with non-stick spray to prevent sticking. Set it aside for now.
  2. Make crust: In a medium bowl, combine the melted butter and graham cracker crumbs using a fork until the mixture resembles wet sand. Press this mixture firmly and evenly into the bottom of your prepared pan, using an offset spatula or the back of a spoon for a smooth layer.
  3. Add layers: Evenly sprinkle the coconut flakes, semi-sweet chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, and chopped walnuts over the graham cracker crust. Make sure to distribute them evenly for balanced flavors in each bar.
  4. Drizzle condensed milk: Pour the sweetened condensed milk evenly over the layered ingredients, allowing it to cover the toppings to help bind everything together during baking.
  5. Bake: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 22-28 minutes or until the edges turn a light golden brown and the condensed milk has set.
  6. Cool and serve: Remove from the oven and allow the bars to cool completely in the pan for at least 3 hours. This ensures they set properly and makes slicing easier. Once cooled, lift the bars out using the parchment paper edges and cut into 24 servings.

Notes

  • For easier removal, allow bars to cool completely before slicing.
  • Substitute chopped pecans or almonds for walnuts if preferred.
  • Use regular or unsweetened coconut flakes depending on your sweetness preference.
  • Store bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days or refrigerate for longer freshness.
  • Allow bars to come to room temperature before serving if refrigerated for best texture.
