Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, browned
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans, toasted
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 2 tbsp brown butter (for glaze)
  • 23 tbsp milk or heavy cream (for glaze)
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (for glaze)
  • Pinch of salt (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan.
  2. Brown butter in a saucepan over medium heat until golden and nutty. Let cool slightly.
  3. In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
  4. In another bowl, whisk eggs, brown sugar, milk, vanilla, and cooled brown butter.
  5. Combine wet and dry ingredients until just mixed. Fold in toasted pecans.
  6. Spoon or pipe batter into donut pan, filling each cavity ¾ full.
  7. Bake for 10–12 minutes until set and lightly golden. Cool on a wire rack.
  8. Whisk powdered sugar, brown butter, milk, vanilla, and salt for the glaze until smooth.
  9. Dip cooled donuts in glaze or drizzle over the top. Let set for 10–15 minutes before serving.
