Ingredients

  • 4 slices of bread (white, sourdough, or Italian)
  • 2 tbsp butter, softened
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup marinara or pizza sauce
  • 810 pepperoni slices (optional)
  • 2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning or dried oregano

Instructions

  1. Spread butter on one side of each bread slice.
  2. Place two slices butter-side down in a skillet over medium heat.
  3. Top each with mozzarella cheese, a spoonful of marinara sauce, pepperoni slices (if using), Parmesan, and Italian seasoning.
  4. Cover with remaining bread slices, butter-side up.
  5. Cook until golden and crispy on one side, about 3–4 minutes, then flip and cook the other side until cheese is melted and bread is browned.
  6. Serve warm with extra marinara sauce for dipping, if desired.

Notes

  • Swap mozzarella with provolone or cheddar for variety.
  • Add mushrooms, bell peppers, or spinach for extra veggies.
  • Use red pepper flakes or spicy pepperoni for heat.
  • Olive oil or mayonnaise can replace butter for toasting.
  • Bake in oven at 375°F for 10 minutes, flipping halfway through.
