Ingredients

  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 lb potato gnocchi (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tbsp butter or olive oil
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese, freshly grated
  • 1 1/2 tbsp Cajun seasoning
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Optional: 1 cup baby spinach or kale
  • Optional: 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper
  • Optional: chopped parsley or basil, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Season shrimp generously with Cajun seasoning.
  2. Heat 2 tbsp butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook shrimp for 2–3 minutes per side until pink and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add remaining butter and sauté garlic for 30 seconds.
  4. Pour in heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer. Stir in gnocchi and cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until tender and sauce begins to thicken.
  5. Stir in Parmesan cheese until melted and creamy.
  6. Return shrimp to the pan, toss to coat, and cook for 1–2 minutes more.
  7. Adjust seasoning with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if desired. Garnish with parsley and extra Parmesan before serving.

Notes

  • Use chicken or sausage instead of shrimp for variation.
  • Add spinach or kale for extra color and nutrients.
  • A squeeze of lemon before serving brightens the dish.
  • For a lighter version, substitute half-and-half for heavy cream.
  • Best served fresh, but leftovers reheat well with a splash of milk or cream.
