Ingredients

  • 1 pack Hawaiian rolls (12-count, preferably still connected)
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk or cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp butter (for cooking)
  • Optional toppings: maple syrup, powdered sugar, fresh berries, whipped cream

Instructions

  1. Slice the Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally, keeping the rolls intact like a loaf.
  2. In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk or cream, vanilla, and cinnamon.
  3. Dip the cut sides of the rolls into the custard mixture briefly, allowing them to soak slightly without getting soggy.
  4. Heat butter in a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat.
  5. Place rolls cut side down and cook for 2–3 minutes until golden. Flip and cook the top side for another 1–2 minutes.
  6. Remove from skillet and rest briefly before slicing and serving.
  7. Top with syrup, powdered sugar, berries, or whipped cream as desired.

Notes

  • Try stuffing rolls with cream cheese or Nutella for a fun surprise.
  • Use flavored rolls (e.g., honey or butter) for variation.
  • Cut into bite-sized pieces for easy serving and sharing.
  • Bake in a dish at 350°F for 20–25 minutes for a hands-off method.
