Ingredients

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 large onion, chopped

pounds ground beef

1 teaspoon garlic powder

½ teaspoon red pepper flakes

½ teaspoon Italian seasoning

Salt and pepper, to taste

1 small head cabbage, chopped

2 (14.5 oz) cans diced tomatoes

1 (14.5 oz) can tomato sauce

Instructions

Sauté Onions:
In a large heavy pot or 6-quart Dutch oven, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and cook for about 5 minutes, until translucent.

Cook Ground Beef:
Add ground beef to the pot, breaking it into small chunks. Cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring often, until fully browned.

Season:
Stir in garlic powder, red pepper flakes, Italian seasoning, and a pinch of salt.

Add Vegetables and Sauce:
Stir in chopped cabbage, diced tomatoes (with juice), and tomato sauce. Mix well.

Simmer:
Bring mixture to a gentle boil. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 25 minutes or until cabbage is fork-tender.

Serve:
Taste and adjust salt and pepper. Serve hot using a slotted spoon over rice, or pair with sweet cornbread for a complete meal.
