Ingredients

  • 1 lb steak (sirloin, ribeye, or flank), sliced into bite-sized strips
  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream or half-and-half
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup chicken or beef broth
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning or dried thyme
  • Red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Fresh parsley or chives, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Pat the steak strips dry and season them with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
  2. In a large skillet, heat oil (or butter) over medium-high heat, then sear the steak in batches until browned and cooked to your liking (about 2–3 minutes per side). Remove the steak and set it aside.
  3. In the same pan, add more oil and cook the shrimp until they turn pink and opaque (about 1–2 minutes per side). Remove the shrimp and set them aside with the steak.
  4. Lower the heat to medium and sauté the minced garlic until fragrant (about 30 seconds).
  5. Pour in broth and scrape up the browned bits from the pan, then stir in the cream and simmer for a minute.
  6. Whisk in grated Parmesan cheese until the sauce becomes smooth and thickens slightly.
  7. Return the steak and shrimp to the pan, stirring gently to coat them in the creamy sauce. Let everything warm through for another 1–2 minutes.
  8. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt, pepper, and optional red pepper flakes for heat.
  9. Garnish with chopped parsley or chives and serve immediately over pasta, rice, mashed potatoes, or with a side of crusty bread.

Notes

  • Add sliced mushrooms when sautéing garlic for a creamy garlic mushroom twist.
  • Use half-and-half instead of heavy cream for a lighter sauce option.
  • Stir in Cajun seasoning or more red pepper flakes for extra heat.
  • For an herb twist, mix in fresh rosemary or tarragon along with parsley.
  • For extra color and nutrition, add spinach, cherry tomatoes, or asparagus to the sauce.
