Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 cup whole milk (warmed)
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 2 large eggs
  • For the filling:
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • For the frosting:
  • 4 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 12 tbsp milk (optional, to adjust consistency)

Instructions

  1. Warm the milk and mix with yeast and a bit of sugar. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, remaining sugar, and salt. Add milk mixture, eggs, and butter. Mix into a soft dough.
  3. Knead for 6–8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 to 1½ hours until doubled.
  5. Roll dough into a rectangle. Spread with softened butter. Sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon evenly.
  6. Roll tightly and slice into 12 rolls. Place in a greased baking dish. Cover and let rise 30–45 minutes.
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F. Bake rolls for 25–30 minutes until golden.
  8. Mix cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and salt until smooth. Add milk to thin if needed.
  9. Spread frosting over warm rolls. Serve and enjoy.
