Ingredients

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

6 tablespoons spreadable garlic and herb cream cheese

½ teaspoon garlic powder

1 ounce shredded Parmesan cheese

2 ounces shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1 plain bagel (or 1 cup panko breadcrumbs)

2 tablespoons olive oil

3 tablespoons everything bagel seasoning (divided)

¼ cup all-purpose flour

1 egg, beaten

Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

Preheat the oven
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Prepare the crumb coating
Break the plain bagel into pieces and pulse in a food processor until crumbs form. Transfer to a bowl and mix with olive oil and 2 tablespoons of everything bagel seasoning.

Make the cheese filling
In a small bowl, combine the cream cheese, garlic powder, shredded Parmesan, and shredded cheddar cheese. Mix until smooth and well combined.

Prepare the chicken
Slice each chicken breast lengthwise to create a pocket, being careful not to cut all the way through. Fill each pocket with the cream cheese mixture, then season the outside with salt and pepper.

Bread the chicken
Dredge each stuffed chicken breast in flour, dip it into the beaten egg, then coat evenly with the bagel crumb mixture.

Arrange for baking
Place the breaded chicken breasts on the prepared baking sheet and sprinkle with the remaining 1 tablespoon everything bagel seasoning.

Bake
Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).

Rest and serve
Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Serve with roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, buttered noodles, or a fresh salad.

Panko breadcrumbs can replace bagel crumbs for a quicker preparation.

To keep the crust crispy when reheating, warm leftovers in the oven at 350°F instead of microwaving.
