Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp lemon juice or zest (optional)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for glaze, optional)
  • 1 tbsp milk (for glaze, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, beat cream cheese, sugar, vanilla, and lemon juice until smooth.
  3. Unfold puff pastry and cut into 6–8 rectangles or squares.
  4. Spoon cream cheese filling into the center of each piece. Fold or shape pastry slightly to contain filling.
  5. Brush edges with beaten egg and bake for 15–18 minutes until puffed and golden.
  6. Cool slightly and drizzle with glaze made from powdered sugar and milk, if desired.

  • Add jam, fresh berries, or thin apple slices for variation.
  • Use crescent roll dough for a softer version.
  • Mix sour cream or cinnamon into filling or glaze for extra flavor.
  • Make ahead and refrigerate unbaked pastries overnight.
