Ingredients

1 medium head green cabbage, cleaned and cut into large triangular pieces

1 lb smoked turkey sausage, sliced into rounds

1 lb ground beef

1 medium onion, chopped

1 green bell pepper, chopped

1 red bell pepper, chopped

1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning (or to taste)

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

½ teaspoon black pepper

½ teaspoon paprika

½ teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)

1 tablespoon olive oil or cooking oil

Instructions

Prepare the vegetables
Wash the green cabbage thoroughly. Cut it into triangular wedges and slice each wedge in half. Chop the onion and bell peppers, and slice the smoked turkey sausage into rounds.

Brown the sausage
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sausage slices and sauté until lightly browned. Remove from the pan and set aside.

Cook the ground beef
In the same skillet, add the ground beef. Season with Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Cook until the beef is browned. Drain any excess grease and remove from the pan.

Cook the cabbage mixture
Add the cabbage, onions, and bell peppers to the skillet. Sprinkle with additional seasoning if desired and stir well.

Simmer until tender
Cover the skillet and cook over medium-low heat for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage becomes tender.

Combine everything
Add the cooked ground beef and sausage back into the pan. Stir well and cook uncovered for another 5 minutes so the flavors blend together.

Serve
Serve hot with cornbread, rice, or your favorite Southern side dishes.

Notes

Avoid overcooking the cabbage to maintain a tender but slightly crisp texture.

Adjust Cajun seasoning depending on how spicy you prefer the dish.

For extra flavor, add a splash of hot sauce or Worcestershire sauce.

Leftovers store well in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
