Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Blue gel food coloring
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 6 crushed Oreo cookies
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chip cookies, broken into pieces

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add egg and vanilla, then blue food coloring until desired shade is reached.
  5. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until a soft dough forms.
  6. Fold in chocolate chips, crushed Oreos, and mini cookies, reserving a few for topping.
  7. Scoop dough into balls, place on baking sheets, and press extra mix-ins on top.
  8. Bake for 10–12 minutes, until edges are set but centers are soft.
  9. Cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to wire rack.

Notes

  • Use gel food coloring for vibrant blue without thinning the dough.
  • Chill the dough if the kitchen is warm to prevent excessive spreading.
  • Try adding candy eyes for a whimsical Cookie Monster look.
  • Swap in white chocolate chips, mint Oreos, or chopped candy bars for variety.
  • Freeze extra dough balls and bake from frozen as needed.
