Ingredients

  • For the crust:
  • 1 1/2 cups chocolate cookie crumbs
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup butter, melted
  • For the filling:
  • 24 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 6 oz semisweet or dark chocolate, melted and cooled
  • 1 tbsp orange zest
  • 2 tbsp fresh orange juice
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Optional topping: chocolate ganache, candied orange peel, or extra orange zest

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C). Line the bottom of a springform pan with parchment paper.
  2. Mix cookie crumbs, sugar, and melted butter. Press into the pan and bake for 8–10 minutes. Cool completely.
  3. In a large bowl, beat cream cheese and sugar until smooth.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well. Stir in sour cream, heavy cream, orange zest, juice, and vanilla.
  5. Fold in melted chocolate until smooth and evenly combined.
  6. Pour filling over crust and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 55–65 minutes, or until center is set but slightly wobbly. Turn off oven, crack door, and cool for 1 hour.
  8. Chill in the fridge for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  9. Before serving, drizzle with ganache or melted chocolate and garnish with zest or candied orange peel.

Notes

  • Swirl in orange marmalade or add orange liqueur for extra citrus flavor.
  • Use a water bath or humid oven to prevent cracking.
  • Let cool gradually and chill fully before slicing.
  • Freezes well—wrap individual slices and store up to 2 months.
