Ingredients

  • Filling: 6 cups apples, peeled and sliced; 1/2 cup granulated sugar; 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon; 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg; 1/4 cup water; 1/2 cup caramel sauce
  • Topping: 1 cup rolled oats; 1/2 cup all-purpose flour; 1/2 cup brown sugar; 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed; 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, toss apples with sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Pour into the prepared dish and drizzle with water and caramel sauce.
  3. In another bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, and salt. Add cold butter and mix with fingers or a pastry cutter until coarse crumbs form.
  4. Sprinkle topping evenly over apple mixture.
  5. Bake for 40–45 minutes, until topping is golden and apples are tender and bubbling.
  6. Cool for 10 minutes before serving to allow juices to thicken.

Notes

  • Mix in pears or add chopped nuts to the topping for variation.
  • Use a mix of tart and sweet apples like Granny Smith and Honeycrisp for best flavor.
  • Drizzle extra caramel sauce on top after baking for added richness.
  • Make it gluten-free with certified GF oats and flour blend.
  • Reheat leftovers in the oven to keep the topping crisp.
