Ingredients

2 (21-ounce) cans cherry pie filling
1 (15.25-ounce) box yellow cake mix
2 cups 7-Up lemon-lime soda

Instructions

Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
Spread 1 1/2 cans of cherry pie filling evenly across the bottom of the dish. Reserve the remaining filling.
Sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix evenly over the cherry layer.
Slowly pour the 7-Up soda over the cake mix. Use the back of a spoon to gently moisten the mix without fully stirring.
Spoon dollops of the remaining cherry pie filling over the top.
Bake for about 60 minutes, or until the top is golden brown. If browning too quickly, cover loosely with foil after 45 minutes.
Remove from oven and allow the cake to cool completely (about 2 hours) so it sets properly.
Serve and enjoy.

Notes

Do not overmix—this keeps the classic dump cake texture.
Cooling is essential for proper consistency.
Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for extra indulgence.
You can substitute Sprite or any lemon-lime soda if needed.
