This recipe came out of desperation one afternoon. My husband forgot to tell me that we were invited to friends for dinner and drinks and all the couples were asked to bring an appetizer. So I had 5 hours to figure something out that I could prepare now and not have to cook or warm up before the party (had the whole afternoon already scheduled AND my oven wasn't working anyways)! So I looked in the refrigerator to see what we had and decided that the blue cheese and dates would be a nice combination. Here's the easy cheesy ball that I came up with. I hope you enjoy it too!
In a large mixing bowl mix the blue cheese, cream cheese, and milk together on high until smooth and creamy.
Then add the dates, onion, lemon peel, salt, pepper, and garlic and mix thoroughly.
Spoon the cheese mixture onto a large piece of saran wrap, shape into a ball, and refrigerate for 4+ hours.
Unwrap and place on a serving dish.
Serve cold with whole grain crackers, toast, pita chips, or sliced veggies.
